This is Period Poverty
Why are menstrual products some of the most requested items in shelters, but the least frequently donated?

This is Period Poverty is a video-based campaign created and produced by Winslow Magazine to raise awareness about period poverty in Toronto. The campaign video shares the stories of individuals who have experienced homelessness and the challenges they have faced while managing their periods without access to menstrual products. Their stories highlight the social, political, and economic factors that create obstacles for menstruators-in-need across Canada.

Diva Cup was the feature sponsor of the This is Period Poverty campaign. This initiative raised $2,500 for The Period Purse, a non-profit organization in Toronto that seeks to establish menstrual equity through outreach, education and advocacy.

As Editor-in-chief of Winslow Magazine, I was responsible for producing, directing, and editing the campaign video and creating additional digital assets. We created an official press release that was published on the Global Newswire and corresponded with the City of Toronto's announcement of May 28th as the city's inaugural Menstrual Hygiene Day.
We ran a month-long social media campaign with original content that included custom visuals, motion graphics and videos. This campaign sparked conversations and brought awareness to the issue at hand.
